Minor Illness
The nurses hold a morning surgery to see patients with any of the following health problems or needs:
Coughs, sore throat, eye and ear problems, diarrhoea and vomiting, hay fever, urinary tract infections, chest infections and repeat contraceptive pill checks.
Patients can make appointments with the nurse as they do with their doctor.
The nurses also specialise in chronic illness and monitor patients who have diabetes, COPD, asthma and certain heart conditions in arranged clinics.
Health Promotion
Within the Health Centre there is a variety of Health Promotion services including:
- Cervical smears by the Practice Nurse & Doctors
- Family Planning – a full range of services (including cap fitting, but not coil fitting)
- Ante-Natal Classes
- Parentcraft Classes
- Post-Natal, Information and Support Group
- Hypertension Care
- Diabetes Care
- Asthma Care
- CHD (Coronary Heart Disease) Care
- Holiday, Tetanus and Childhood Vaccinations
- Cervical Cancer (HPV) Vaccination Clinics
- Stop Smoking Clinics

Child Health/Immunisation Clinics
Clinics are held on Wednesdays between 9.30am and 10.45am. Appointments are sent out from the Leicestershire and Rutland Health Care NHS Trust.
The Health Visitor offers child surveillance with health advice and runs a clinic on Wednesdays between 1.30pm and 3.00pm.
One of the Doctors with special training in child health is closely involved with this programme.
